Malad City, often referred to as Malad, is one of the oldest communities in southeast Idaho near the Idaho-Utah border. Named after the neighboring Malad River, Malad is known for it's natural outdoor beauty. Malad is home to park of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and is 16 miles west of the Curlew National Grassland. The only bar within the town's limits is Critters Lounge, but there are other bars and taverns in Lava Hot Springs, roughly 50 miles away. - Critters is a small cocktail lounge in the heart of Malad City that operates with just three employees. It's located a few blocks west of the Oneida County Courthouse and the Oneida Pioneer Museum.
