Prosperity and Spirituality - Can You Have it All?
Can I be spiritual and also have a good income? This a question that people ask a lot when they first start looking at their relationship with money.
It is one that I struggled with for a long time myself, when I first started looking the whole area of money and my relationship with it.
Like a lot of other spiritually orientated people who work for themselves in the area of healing or personal development, I struggled to make money for a long time.
I had earned a reasonable income when I was employed, but when I set up on my own as a homeopath, I was very uncomfortable charging people for my time and skills.
It was only when I realised how much time I was actually thinking about money - but in a worrying, anxious way - rather than an abundant way, that I made the commitment to change my relationship with money.
Money is a unit of energy - we exchange our goods, services, time, abilities, skills for money.
Money didn't always exist as it does now, and it won't always be the same as it is now in the future.
When I started really looking at abundance and prosperity, I realised that to me they had little to do with money!!! I can feel abundant with a few cents in my pocket, and I can feel impoverished with 100s of $$ in my pocket.
It all depends on me,and how I feel, and nothing at all to do with money.
I was just reading in the paper today of a millionaire who gave most of his money away because he realised that it wasn't making him happy!! That's true wealth - he had realised that all the "things" that his money allowed him to buy, hadn't made him happy.
He's now going to live quietly and in more natural surroundings.
Having really worked on my relationship with money - as if it were a person, I was in a relationship with - I now feel much clearer about it.
I don't blame money for my emotions or my feelings of lack.
I realised that money was acting like the scapegoat in my life a lot of the time, for the things that I wasn't doing for myself.
Now, I feel that I am equally as spiritual whether I have money or I don't!! Money has nothing to do with it.
I think about money much less now, than I did when I considered money to be un-spiritual!!! I feel much more grateful for all that I have in my life, rather than focusing on what I don't have yet.
