How to Install the Vista Activation on a Dimension 2350
- 1). Close any software running on your Dell Dimension 2350. Right-click the icon for your anti-virus program in the system tray at the bottom-right corner of the screen and choose "Exit." Repeat the process if you also use a software firewall.
- 2). Unplug any extraneous devices connected to the computer, such as a printer or scanner. Insert the Windows Vista installation disc in the computer's drive.
- 3). Select the "Install Now" option when the Windows Vista installation window appears on your screen. Click the option labeled "Go Online to Get the Latest Updates for Installation."
- 4). Select "Upgrade" when the list of installation options appear. Select "Use Recommended Settings" and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new Windows Vista user name and verify your Internet connection settings.
- 5). Wait for the Dell to restart and click the icon for your new Vista user name. Select the "Start" menu and click the "Computer" button.
- 6). Select the "System Properties" link and scroll down to the "Windows Activation" heading. Select "Click here to activate Windows."
- 7). Type the Windows Vista product key in the text boxes when prompted. They key is found in the Vista installation disc's packaging and consists of a long string of numbers and letters with dashes. Select "Finish" to active Windows Vista on your computer.
- 8). Plug in the devices you disconnected earlier and follow the "Found New Hardware" prompts to install the latest device drivers compatible with Vista.
