How to Format an SD Card on Windows
- 1). Go to the SD Association website (see Resources), and click "Download the SD Formatter." Read the "End User License Agreement," then click "I Accept" if you agree with the terms. Click "Save" in the pop-up window to begin the download. Double-click the saved file once the download is finished, and follow the step-by-steps instructions of the Installation Wizard to install and launch the application.
- 2). Click the "Drive" drop-down menu in SD Formatter's window, and select the SD drive (usually "E:").
- 3). Click the "Options" button, and select "FULL (Erase ON)" formatting option from the "Format Type" drop-down menu. Select "ON" option from the "Format Size Adjustment" drop-down menu, and click "OK."
- 4). Click "Format" then "OK" in the confirmation pop-up.
- 5). Click "OK" in the confirmation pop-up once formatting is complete.
