How to Troubleshoot Photo Printing on an HP C4380
- 1). Remove the photo paper from the paper tray, and pull the guides out as far as they will go. Place a few sheets of photo paper back into the tray, and adjust the guides so they just touch the paper. This step should correct any issues you have with the paper becoming skewed or jamming as it enters the HP 4380 printer.
- 2). Lift the lid on the HP 4380 to access the scanner glass. Use a soft cloth and a nonabrasive glass cleaner to clean the entire scanner surface. Use cotton swabs dipped in glass cleaner to access and clean the corners of the glass. This step should resolve any issues with black spots or streaks appearing on your scanned documents or photographs.
- 3). Click the "Start" button, and select "Printers" or "Printers and Faxes" from the menu. Right-click the HP 4380's icon and select "Printer Properties" from the menu that appears. Click the "Services" tab, then click "Service this Device."
- 4). Select "Device Settings" and then "Clean the print cartridges." Click "Done" once the print quality looks acceptable. Replace the print cartridges if the print quality is still poor.
- 5). Open the print cartridge door, and wait for the cartridge carrier to stop moving. Press down gently on the print cartridges, and remove them from the printer.
- 6). Dip a soft cloth into distilled water, and wring it out until it is just damp. Hold the print cartridge by the sides, and clean the metal contacts thoroughly to remove any paper dust and ink residue. Wait for the cartridge contacts to dry, then place the cartridges back into the printer.
