How to Customize Your Laptop Color
- 1). Turn your computer off. Measure the top of you laptop length and width, if you don't already know what size it is. You will need to know the size of your laptop to purchase the correct sized skin.
- 2). Purchase a laptop "skin" in the color and style that you like. These skins are available at places like Best Buy and Target, as well as Amazon.com, Laptopskins.com and many other online stores.
- 3). Clean the top cover and inside keyboard area with a damp cloth. The skin will adhere much better to a clean laptop than a dirty one. Use a piece of paper towel to dry off the laptop.
- 4). Place the skin directly on top of of the front cover of your laptop. Make sure that it's properly centered. Place a small piece of tape at both the top center of the skin and bottom center of the skin. This will make sure that the skin is perfectly centered when you adhere it to the laptop.
- 5). Pull the left side of the skin away from its backing until you reach the pieces of tape in the middle of the laptop. Cut the backing away from the skin.
- 6). Squeegee the skin down onto the laptop. You can also use a credit card if you don't have a mini squeegee. This will ensure the skin adheres properly without any air bubbles.
- 7). Remove the tape pieces from the top and bottom of the laptop and skin.
- 8). Pull up the right side of the skin and remove the rest of the backing. Again, use a mini squeegee or credit card to smooth the skin down into the computer cover.
- 9). Open your laptop up if you're going to put an inside keyboard skin onto your computer. Fit the skin onto the inside of your computer and tape the top center and bottom center of the skin to the computer. Repeat Steps 5 through 8 to properly adhere the skin to the inside.
