• Some items made from silver can be personalized for the baby. For instance, purchase a silver frame and have it engraved to say, "Baby's 1st Birthday." Also include the baby's name on the frame. Alternatively, buy silver baby jewelry that a baby girl can hold on to and pass down to future generations. Some antique stores have nice silver baby bracelets and necklaces. Homemade Baby Blanket

• Create a homemade baby blanket made from a soft material. Hand-knit the blanket if you are skilled with knitting. Or make a quilt out of the baby's old clothes. Use a sewing machine, because it can be difficult to make a nice-looking quilt without it. Hand stitching can become messy. A nice touch is to monogram the child's initials on by hand. • A scrapbook is a thoughtful gift that pays homage to each milestone that the baby passes. Purchase a colorful scrapbook in pink or blue. Alternatively, get a leather-bound scrapbook that lasts a long time. Then fill the scrapbook with photos of the baby's first smile and her first walk. Also include mementos, such as the child's hospital band from being born. Add the balloon you received in the hospital when the baby was born. • Items with the baby's birthstone are nice keepsakes that pay homage to the child's birth. Give a charm bracelet to a baby girl and include a birthstone charm. Or purchase an adult-sized necklace with the birthstone that the baby can wear when she is bigger. If the baby is a boy give a nice box that is decorated with the birthstone. Or get a quality frame and decorate it with the baby's birthstone.
