How to Make a Killer Bee Costume
- 1). Purchase a headband with antennae with little silver balls at the end, sometimes called "boppers." If you like, you can spray-paint the silver balls black.
- 2). Purchase a pair of "fairy wings" at a costume shop. Try to find shorter, rounder ones rather than long wings. Find a pair that are fairly plain, white and translucent. If they have a lot of glitter on them and you don't want to be so sparkly, you can rub it off gently with a towel. Just be careful not to snag or poke a hole in the nylon or there will be a run in your wings.
- 3). Lay the yellow shirt and shorts on a table. With the black masking tape, make stripes going across the front of each of them. Turn them over and repeat, making stripes going across the back of them. Try to make the stripes nice and straight. You can try them on, and if any stripes are crooked you can just peel them off and re-attach them, or use a fresh strip of tape.
- 4). Try on the yellow shirt and the wings. If you want to avoid the wing straps hanging over your shoulders, you can hide them under the yellow shirt. Have someone draw a short, horizontal line on your back on the yellow shirt, right where the wings rest on your back.
- 5). Take the yellow shirt off. With scissors, cut a hole in the back of the shirt along the line. Make it large enough to feed the shoulder straps of the fairy wings through it.
- 6). Put on the black long-sleeved shirt and black tights. Put on the yellow shorts. Put the yellow shirt on and feed the strap of the fairy wings through the hole. Take your arms out of the sleeves and maneuver your arms, under the shirt, into the fairy wing straps, then put your arms back through the yellow shirt's sleeves.
- 7). Put on black gloves, shoes and antennae. As a finishing touch, wield a fake weapon, such as a rubber butcher knife or squirt gun. If you want to get a bit glory, smear your weapon and yourself with some fake blood.
