Choose your color theme and find sheer garland ribbon to coordinate. For use with multicolored ornaments on your tree, any color or patterned sheer ribbon will blend. Choose a two color theme for more drama, such as white ribbon with red ornaments; gold or silver sheer garland gives a dressy effect. - 2

Gauge the yardage of sheer garland ribbon you will need before you buy. For long vertical streamers, measure the height of your tree and multiply by the number of streamers you wish to use. To use large bows with long tails that dangle as streamers, buy an additional 4 feet of ribbon for each bow. - 3

Make bows about the size of a salad plate with 4-inch loops, 10 each. For smaller bows, make shorter loops. For a tall tree you may wish to use as many as six large bows. - 4

Add light strings to your tree if it is not prelit. Then, place a large bow at the top of the tree and let the tail of the sheer garland ribbon drape to the bottom of the tree. Tie the bow to the limb with pipe cleaner or wire. Add more bows with sheer garland ribbon streamers spaced evenly around the tree. - 5
