    NHL Ice Time

    • NHL Ice Time is a mobile device application build for the iPod Touch and iPhone. There are two versions of the app -- Ice Time Basic and Ice Time premium. Ice Time Basic gives you live scores and stats during games, but to stream hockey live, you need to upgrade to the premium version, which costs $7.99 for the whole regular season, as of time of publication. Once you've installed it, you can stream live game audio to your iPod Touch and enjoy several other features after downloading it from the App Store. The NHL also released a playoff edition of the Ice Time app for the 2010-2011 playoffs.

    Live Audio

    • When you open the Ice Time app you have several options. To stream live game audio, browse the list of available games and click to load the audio broadcast. You have the ability to listen to either team's audio feed, and if there's a French-language broadcast, which is the case for the Montreal Canadiens, you can listen to it.

    Other Features

    • In addition to the live audio feature, the Ice Time app gives you condensed video of games so that you can watch each in 15 minutes or less. There are also video highlights posted period by period, highlight packages after every game and an extensive video highlight archive. Another available feature is the Ice Tracker function, which gives you a diagram showing the action on the ice. Though it's not live game video, it provides information about the play, and provides videos after the fact.

    Restrictions

    • The NHL Ice Time application is available only during the hockey season. It was released for its first time in 2010, but if you wish to download it during the summer, for example, it will not appear in the App Store. As of June 2011, the NHL had not confirmed whether it would release a 2011 version of the app.
