How to Send Red Tulips
- 1). Wrap the tulip stems in three sheets of damp newspaper, making sure the paper is not dripping wet.
- 2). Put the newspaper-wrapped stems into a plastic grocery bag and tie the handles lightly. Leave the blooms unwrapped.
- 3). Tie the arrangement to a box insert, using cable ties or bands to prevent movement during shipment, recommends Federal Express. You can obtain the insert along with the shipping box of the same length at a shipping center or office supply store. The shipping box needs to be just long and wide enough to fit the tulip arrangement.
- 4). Place the insert and secured tulips inside the shipping box. Include a greeting card and a pack of flower preservative.
- 5). Secure the shipping box with three strips of 2-inch-wide pressure-sensitive packing tape. Tape the seams as well.
- 6). Address the box to the recipient on top. Tulips only last for about a week in a vase, so send overnight to ensure quick delivery.
