    Pumpkin Patch

    • Your Halloween décor doesn't have to be scare tactic. To create a not-so-haunted design to add color to festivity to the foyer of your home or office, make an activity out of carving pumpkins with a variety of emotional faces on them. The kids can carve happy pumpkins or your co-workers can carve confused pumpkins. Use the pumpkins to serve as heads for scarecrows that you use as a welcome into your area. Dress the pumpkins in full scarecrow attire, complete with flannel shirts and denim pants and prop them up as a backdrop. This is the place where you can place a stump of wood or a small decorated table that contains Halloween candy inside for guests to enjoy.

    What the Hay

    • Create scarecrows by stuffing old flannel shirts and overalls with hay. Use a pillowcase and stuff with sand or cotton to create the head. Since you're using hay you may want to restrict your scarecrow to sitting between the trees outside so he doesn't drag in a a mess. Use unused hay barrels to prop him up and decorate with large fall vegetables such as pumpkins, squash and fresh ears of corn.

    Skull & Bones

    • Not all scarecrows are happy pumpkin heads with smiling faces. Purchase a skeleton from your local costume or Halloween shop to use as your scarecrow. Dress him up in an outfit such as a black robe or dark sweat suit so that he appears as eerie as possible. Hang him up high on the wall or from the ceiling and decorate around him to create your background landscape. Use old white sheets to create ghosts and purchase spider-web cotton from the Halloween store to line around the area.

    Haunted House

    • Create a haunted house for a kids' spook festival at school or in the backyard for a private adult party. Stuff old clothes that you've tattered and torn to fill his body. Use a scare goblin mask as the face of your scarecrow and place a black hat on his head. Purchase a scream machine from the party store or Halloween fun shop so as someone walks by he screams a ghoulish growl. Use large black sheets to drape and hang from the area such as the ceiling or wall-to-wall.
