The residents of San Antonio are quite familiar with game rooms. A bustling city brimming with life and energy; San Antonio is replete with dazzling pubs and joints tailored for party animals and night owls. Like every one else, I was also a regular at most of these pubs (almost every Friday eve to be precise) until my friend Debbie, an architect by profession, stepped in and helped me to build a lounge at my home.

I can't thank her enough for advising me and walking me through all the nitty-gritties of building a room. She even helped me out in getting hold of the 'right' utensils and furnitures that define a game room, including pool cues and bar stools. San Antonio is home to numerous shops selling room furnitures and accessories.

But, why invest in building a room when you already have so many dazzling pubs in town? If Debbie was here, she would have explained you better. But she is on a trip with her family, so I will try to clear the air as much as I can.

Game rooms: A much more convenient option than pubs and discs

Investing in building a game room:

• Saves you a lot of money: How much you may enjoy in a pub, you are still spending a lot of your hard earned money on drinks, snacks and the likes. Moreover, many times we sneak in to a pub with our friends. Now, that's when things tend to go out of hand, at least for me it did. Most of the time I ended up paying their bills, the effect of which I used to realize at the end of every month. I ended up spending a lot more than I saved, and that's definitely a reason that prompted me to build a lounge. Having a room will help you to save a lot of money in the long run. Period.


• Saves you from facing the wrath of your wife: Coming home post midnight with the smell of alcohol all over your body, won't make your wife happy for sure. Build a game room at your home, bring your friends, and enjoy the Friday weekends to the fullest. And yes, that also relieves you from the tiring job of going back home after a drinking binge!

How did Debbie help?

I had plans of setting up a game room but all I needed was the help of a seasoned architect like Debbie. Here's a brief sketch of what she did to make my life a lot 'easier' than it was before!

• Debbie asked me to set up a pool board and helped me out to find the nicest of pool cues. San Antonio city houses some of the best stores that deals with such items, hence it wasn't a problem for me to get hold of pool cues of various size.


• I already have a space at my home dedicated to my wife, that boasts of a home theater, perfectly installed as per her convenience. To jazz it up, Debbie asked me to install home theater seating. San Antonio is replete with numerous stores dealing with such stuff. At first, I was a bit hesitant in opting for home theater seating, but when she showed me the game room plan, I was up for it instantly!

Today, I take pride in boasting a completely refurbished home that has a well-furnished lounge. I still upgrade it from time to time, of course with the help of Debbie's advice.
