How to Shape Asian Eyebrows
- 1). Determine the shape you want for your eyebrows. There are different levels of arches from petite to high, and choose one that frames your face well. To determine where your arch is proportionate to your face, hold up a pencil flat on your face, slightly slanted, resting on the side of your nostril, aligning with your pupil, towards your eyebrows. The point on your eyebrow determined by the end of the pencil is your arch. Build this arch gradually by carefully plucking on the sides of the eyebrows.
- 2). Use a brow stencil or go to a salon to have them shaped professionally. There are various brow stencils available at makeup stores such as Sephora. To use them, place the stencil over your eyebrow and fill in the shape with a brow liner or powder. These stencils will help guide you on the shape of your eyebrows easily, since all you have to do is fill in. Going to a salon is also helpful since the stylist can recommend a shape suitable for you as well as help you achieve a shape that you can then replicate later on your own.
- 3). Fill in your eyebrows to create a full look, then pluck, wax or thread the stray hairs outside of what you filled in. Use an eyebrow liner that is similar to or just a bit lighter the natural color of your hair. Asian hair is usually dark brown to black, so a brownish black liner would do. The eyebrow brush will also help groom your eyebrow to make them look more polished.
- 4). After filling in your eyebrows, comb through it again to blend it in. You will achieve a more natural look if you blend the color with your eyebrows by lessening the contrast between the filled-in color and your natural brow color. Use your fingers or a Q-tip to make sure that the color is blended in and there are no stray lines or powder dust outside your brows.
- 5). Groom your eyebrows by using brow scissors or razors. These tools help keep your eyebrows at bay by using them frequently in between going to the salon to have them reshaped. These will help you maintain a neat appearance by getting rid of stray hairs that can end up even on your eyelids. You can also use a clear mascara for brows to help eyebrows stay in place.
