How to Make a Lizard Handbag More Pliable
- 1). Wipe the handbag down gently with a clean cloth. Use a circular buffing motion as you wipe the bag. This step removes dust or dirt before moving on to conditioning the leather. If you find that the dirt doesn't come off with the clean dry cloth, moisten the cloth just a little and continue to wipe the bag until it's clean. Remember to be gentle, especially if the handbag is old, because lizard scales tend to flake.
- 2). Apply a moisturizing cream to the handbag. Avoid leather creams that contain silicone and alcohol, as these substances dry out the leather and cause it to be stiff and flaky. If you don't have access to exotic leather creams, shoe cream works well. Apply it with a soft cloth in the direction of the reptile skin. Rubbing against the grain may cause the scales to flake off. For a stiff or older bag, apply moisturizing cream once a month.

Use a soft cloth to apply the sealer, and apply it in circular motions. Apply sealer every time you condition your bag with moisturizing cream or shoe cream.
- 4). Store the lizard handbag in a large shoe bag away from sunlight when you're not using it. This step is especially important if you live in a dry climate. The shoe bag will keep the handbag moist and will also keep it from getting scratched or scuffed in your closet. Try to put the shoe bag up on a shelf or hang it from a rod rather than allow it to sit on the floor of the closet.
