Black Room

• Create a room for vampires, Goths and teenagers by making everything black. Begin by painting the walls, floor and ceiling black. Then put in a black rug, black curtains and some black furniture. Get some black sheets and black blankets for the bed. For a finishing touch, get yourself a black cat and let him live in the black room.
  
  

Recycling Room

• If you're sick of taking out your recycling box, create an interesting room with your used containers instead of sending them out to the truck. Examine what you create the most of and plan accordingly. If you have cats and go through a lot of small cat food cans, use these as a design item. Stack them to create pillars and put them in the corners of the room. Flatten cereal boxes and create colorful collages for the walls. Bunch up plastic bags and hang them from the ceiling to create a plastic cave. Be sure to clean all containers well so you don't get bad smells in your recycling room.
  
  

Nest

• Make a room into a giant nest. This idea takes effort, so be patient and take your time. Find some old bird nests and study their construction. Follow their design as closely as possible, but on a human scale. Fill the room with sticks and create a comfortable, round depression in the center. Use progressively smaller sticks as you work towards the center, and finish with straw, grass and moss to create a comfortable sleeping space in the middle of the room. For a good laugh, make some giant eggs out of papier mache and put them into your nest.
  
  

Graffiti Room

• Invite some friends over and spend the evening writing on the walls of one of your rooms. It's not a good idea to use spray paint since you'll be in a confined space. Use magic markers and latex paint with brushes. If you can coax some of your more artistic friends to come over, the results will probably be more impressive. Use your imagination. Paint landscapes, put paint on body parts and press them on the walls, copy passages from some of your favorite books. Don't forget to write on the ceiling and on the floor to get the full graffiti effect.
