  Guests will love a CD featuring the birthday boy as an invitation. Using the memories from the past year, such as photographs, videos and scanned artwork of the boy, CDs are personable keepsakes. The invitation information should be included on the cover of the case for easy reference, even if it is added onto the CD. A pre-printed label with the date, time, location, RSVP details and any other information looks professional. However, if the birthday boy has an interest to help, he could hand-write the invitation information on the cover of the case with your assistance.   Balloons are fantastic for sending birthday invitations. Latex balloons that are a solid color or even pre-printed with a birthday message work best for this idea, and they are less costly than fancy Mylar balloons. Invitations are pre-printed using thin paper with a picture of the birthday boy holding a bunch of balloons, and can be secured when rolled up using ribbon. The invitations are placed inside the deflated balloon, so use materials that are not stiff or have sharp edges that could poke a hole in the balloon for best results. Attached to the balloon will be a note that tells the invitation-holder to blow up and pop the balloon in order to find out the party plans.

  Sunglasses make for cool invitations, setting the mood for the birthday party. Shades can either be over-sized and in playful neon colors, or they can be mod black sunglasses similar to the ones sported by the Blues Brothers. There are thousands of colors, sizes and styles of sunglasses that could be used for your invitation. However the type of sunglasses should tie in with the theme of the birthday event. For instance, aviator sunglasses work well with airplane themes, mod styles go well with movie-themed parties and large funky styles look cool for pool parties. The invitation is written directly onto the lenses, either on the front or back side, using a thin metallic paint marker. Guests will be thrilled when they see the creativity of their invitation, and hopefully everyone will even wear their cool shades to the birthday party.
