Maui is the #1 island in the world and the #1 destination in the world - why would you not want to get married in Maui? If you think the price is too high well, believe it or not, that's exactly who Maui has so many small weddings. If you're scratching your head consider how many weddings take on a life of their own and the two families involved seem to escalate the size and complexity of the wedding each day.

Maui may be the ideal solution to an out of control wedding back on the mainland. Weddings are smaller on Maui and the locations are right out of the movies - they are breathtaking. The families are in a "neutral corner" and the focus changes to the actual ceremony and then tours and events on Maui while the honeymoon takes place on the same island!

Well there are five types of weddings in Maui:
1) Maui beaches
2) Ocean vistas
3) Waterfalls
4) Garden views
5) Resort Hotel Sites

Maui beaches: up until August 2008 you could have your ceremony right on the Maui beach but now you can't have chairs or arches on the beach itself. Luckily there are wedding coordinators who know how to have the chairs on land and the ceremony take place a few yards away on the beach. Or, the couple, a few friends, and the minister can hold the ceremony on the beach.

Ocean vistas: There are parts of northern Maui which have been in many movies and you can have your ceremony right there. Typically the wedding precession takes place under a tent since it could rain and that just can't be allowed to happen. The reception can take place on the same grounds with the same vista views that will last a lifetime.

Waterfalls: If you want your ceremony to take place next to a gentle waterfall you will have to find a wedding coordinator who has access to private estates that have these waterfalls - you don't want a public waterfall where kids are splashing and screaming during your ceremony.

Garden views: Maui gardens with the various exotic birds strutting around form the backdrop to a fairyland wedding. These weddings can be a bit less expensive too.

Resort Hotel Sites: Some of the most expensive hotels on Maui have built chapels on their grounds and can be rented. This is THE most expensive kind of wedding on Maui and expect reservations to be nonexistent for 6 months with hot holiday times even longer backlogs.

Well this is just a sampling of the wonderful weddings Maui has to offer. Read more about Maui weddings at Maui Weddings
