How do I Hang a Cylinder Lamp?
- 1). Determine where you want to place the lamp. Some common locations include over a reading area, like over your favorite chair; or over a social area, like over your dining room table. You might also consider placing lamps in the corners of a room to brighten up the entire space. You will need an electrical outlet nearby to plug in the lamp.
- 2). Position a step ladder directly under where you want the lamp to hang. Drill a hole into the ceiling using a cordless drill parallel to the electrical source. This will keep the chain which holds the cylinder lamp cord straight all the way up the wall. Screw an anchor hook into the hole to begin holding the cord.
- 3). Drill a second hole a few inches away from the initial hole, and install a second hook. Allow the cord to droop between anchor hooks for the swag look. Plug in the lamp to the nearest electrical outlet after installation to use.
