How to Make Sense of Christmas Eve Shopping Chaos
- 1
make a list
MAKE A LIST. If you haven't finished your shopping yet, you must have a list (or shop aimlessly). The purpose is to organize what you must spend from what you want to spend. The list will protect you from being reckless with that plastic card. You can keep a mental list (if you're just shopping for 1-2 persons). - 2
set that alarm and maybe a few more
SHOP EARLY. The early bird does get the worm. Shop early to avoid the crowds and save yourself from traffic. This can be done by listing the stores next to the item list from step 1. - 3). ISOLATE THE VENUE. Don't go crazy thinking you'll be able to get around like a normal day. THIS ISN'T A NORMAL DAY. Your success can be seen through isolating one venue, say a particular mall, instead of planning on hopping from place to place. Make sure that particular venue has most of the items you'll need on that list.
- 4). LOOK FOR DEALS. Going early has its benefits, such as taking a little more time to check out deals. Don't just rush into one store for an item. Look at the additional discounts carefully so you'll see the best deal for that shirt, blouse, jacket, etc. Patience pays off.
- 5). SET A DESTINATION TIME. You can easily lose track of time during the day. Set a destination time, which should take into account: shopping, rest/bathroom, and food. The destination time is needed so you'll know when to leave the venue (if the travel distance is far). This time can also let you give you the opportunity to gift-wrap your presents that day and get a good night sleep. Remember, airplanes have destination times so you know what to expect. Why not has a destination time for yourself as well?

A LITTLE BIT OF LUCK. Having that extra luck always helps, such as finding that last pair of gloves, finding just the perfect shirt. So I wish you the best of luck on this shopping day. You're going to need every bit. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY HOLIDAY TO ALL!
