The Fire We Didn"t Start - The Sound and Fury of the Middle East and the Arab Perennial
Trust me when I tell you that we didn't start the fire in the shifting sands of the Middle East.
They've been going on for as long as we have had written recorded history, and I guess Billy Joel also explained that the chaos an controversy, and sound and fury the world over has been going on since the world has been turning.
Perhaps this is no surprise to you, nor should it be.
Indeed, at our think tank we are constantly making assessments of what comes next.
Not only is this important for our own civilization and stability of the free world, but it also matters for the interconnected and interrelated international progress around the globe.
Okay so, here as some of the questions I pitched to a fellow think tanker type the other day, which might pique your own curiosity to better consider all the overall and interrelated international issues in the here and now; What are your thoughts on the WMD in Syria, potential collapse of the Assad Regime, sectarian revenge aftermath? Should we institute a no-fly zone? Can we do it without stating so? Do you believe that we ought to arm some rebels with shoulder-launched SAMs, or send in pretend rebels with those weapons? Can we trust Russia during this ordeal and civil war in Syria? What are your thoughts about Saudi Arabia stating they would shoot down any aircraft overflying their country from Israel to attack Iran's nuke facilities or missile defense systems? Any thoughts on the reality of that oil tanker that had a "so-called" encounter with a US Navy Destroyer? What are your thoughts on the Lebanon Banking system cyber-attack - is that how they ferreted out the Lebanese official planning an assassination and terrorist attack, via Hezbollah support? What was a Chinese war ship doing in the Black Sea recently, coincidental or were they looking for a submarine lurking silently in the in those waters? Now then, those are some intriguing questions aren't they? Perhaps you can see why we need diplomatic intelligence, and a good understanding of what is happening, who's behind it, and what comes next.
A think tank's job is never done, because even if you solve all the problems and get everyone on the same page, the humans will come around and mess it up the next day anyhow.
This is why I often say that being involved in a think tank is certainly a position with job security.
Please consider all this and think on it.
