Halloween costumes aren't just for kids; adult Halloween parties allow require guests to dress up in costumes too. Mass-produced costumes cost a lot of money especially since you're likely to only wear them once. Homemade costumes not only save money; they are one-of-a-kind. It avoids showing up at the party wearing the same costume as one of the other guests. - The 80s remain a popular inspiration for Halloween costumes. A woman can easily put together an 80s prom queen outfit out of her own wardrobe or with an easily purchased costume. To do so, find an old 80s-style prom dress. The dresses of that era were often shorter in length and in bright colors such as teal and fuchsia. A brightly striped dress also works. Common hairstyles of the 80s included curls with lots of volume, teased bangs and hair feathered both in the bangs and on the sides. Add blue eye shadow and other 80s makeup to finish off the look. Wear a pair of pumps that match the dress color, or choose a classic black or shiny gold pair.

Wrap artificial leaf garlands around a loop of wire to create a head wreath or crown to go along with the costume. Use hot glue to attach artificial flowers to the wreath as accents. Choose a pair of shoes that match the dress. Hot glue flowers and leaves to the shoes to connect them with the Mother Nature theme.
- A female vampire offers another do-it-yourself Halloween costume idea for women. A red or black dress creates the main part of the outfit. Add black tights underneath. A cape adds a traditional vampire look to the costume. Look for vampire teeth at a costume shop. Use white face paint all over your face to create the pale vampire look. Add drips of blood from the corners of your mouth and black around your eyes to complete the look.
