How to Identify Knock Off Replicas of Ed Hardy Clothing
- 1). Examine the inside label of the clothing item. An authentic Ed Hardy label is a white rectangle, not a square. In addition, Ed Hardy labels are sewn into the clothing using a straight stitch line only at the top of the label. If the label is sewn all the way around the edge, it is a replica. Labels are located inside the back neckline of shirts and at the inside waistline of pants, shorts and skirts.
- 2). Look closely at the logo on the label. The official Ed Hardy logo is a bulldog that wears a yellow necklace and a checkered hat. Any other logo, or variation of the logo, is a replica. Authentic serial numbers are in a thin font so if the numbers are bold, the clothing is not authentic. Finally, examine the bottom edge of the label to see if there is a thin, dotted white line. If this dotted line is present, it is a fake.
- 4). Examine the workmanship of the rhinestones, if present on the clothing. Not all Ed Hardy clothing contains rhinestones, but if they do, they are meticulously placed. Authentic Ed Hardy rhinestones are perfectly aligned onto the images of the clothing. Replica clothing often has misaligned rhinestones that sit slightly on the edge of the logo. If the clothing has a skull or animal on it, look closely at the eyes, which usually have rhinestones. The stones should be centered in the eye area.
