Whether you choose to serve a full meal at your bridal shower or just provide guests with finger foods, cookies are a welcome addition to nearly any table. While the flavor of the cookies is important, you may want to decorate these bite-size treats to reflect the importance of the special day. - Create wedding-themed cookies for a bridal shower using any rolled sugar cookie recipe. You can purchase cookie cutters shaped like wedding cakes and wedding gowns or cut your own shapes into the dough freehand with a sharp knife. Decorate the cooled baked cookies with icing, decorating sugar, sprinkles, edible flowers or dried fruits. Another option is to cover each sugar cookie with an icing that will harden to a smooth finish. When the icing dries and hardens, you can add color and details with food-safe markers.
- Give plain cookies a formal appearance with a chocolate tuxedo pattern. You can use any round cookie, including store-bought cookies, to create the tuxedo cookies. Start by dipping the cookie into melted white chocolate or a white candy coating to cover most of the cookie. (Another option is to place the cookies on a wire rack and pour the melted white chocolate over the top.) When the white chocolate is cool and firm to the touch, dip the cookie into melted milk or dark chocolate to cover approximately 1/3 of the cookie. Turn the cookie and dip it a second time to leave a v-shape of white chocolate exposed in the center of the cookie. Pipe a few buttons and a bow tie onto the cookie to complete the tuxedo effect. You can also pipe a flower onto the breast of the tuxedo jacket or add a store-bought icing decoration.
- Decorate the tables at your bridal shower with vases full of cookie flower arrangements. You have several different methods to choose from when it comes to baking cookies on a stick. One option is to purchase a cookie pop pan, which has cavities for the cookies and an indented area connected to each cavity where the stick is inserted. This pan holds the stick in place while the cookie bakes to ensure that it is firmly attached. Another option is to gently push lollipop sticks into unbaked cookies and place them on a cooking sheet. You may need to prepare the cookies thicker than they normally would be to accommodate the lollipop sticks. The last method is to place a stick or wooden dowel on a baking sheet and arrange five or six balls of cookie dough to represent petals around one end of the stick. You must use a cookie dough that spreads out during baking for this method. Secure the cookie flowers in your vase by placing a piece of foam into the bottom of the vase and inserting the cookie sticks into the foam.
