Affiliate Marketing - Lessons Learned From Trying To Take Shortcuts That Don"t Work

When I had my daughter I started to consider the fact that I really did not want to return to work.
I had tried working online in an adhoc manner for several years but had not taken it seriously enough and gave up on many products I had purchased to start an internet business.
It is only now that I have resolved to be a success online whatever it takes that I have actually started to see results.
Affiliate marketing is my main focus and I think that now I can safely say that I have learnt from my mistakes and am putting those learnings to good use.
I know that there is no push button solution, I know that I will not make a fortune overnight and I know that I need to work.
So what have I learnt? There is no replacement for hard work.
Apart from the fact that you need to understand how internet marketing works and how to leverage it, you must also concede that you will need to put hours in.
Although you can buy tools to help you automate some aspects you still need to make them work and update them.
In addition, the buying psyche of the public is such that they are more likely to buy from a real person so a personalised approach is much better.
Just because other people are doing well with a product it doesn't mean that you will too.
I find it really helps to believe in the product you are selling.
This is partly because I have a conscience and partly because I find it easier to write passionately about something I have faith in.
You cannot expect to set things up and leave it to chance, ongoing maintenance is required to ensure you are always on top of your competition.
The majority of your time when considering a new campaign should be spent on doing proper research.
I spend several hours researching keywords, my competition and the competition for the product from similar offerings.
The sales page must be able to keep people interested, if it doesn't I move on pretty quickly.
Learn how to do things the right way and the best way.
The quickest way will not be either of these, I promise you.
I have been guilty of trying to take short cuts in the past and it just doesn't work.
Treat your work at home as a business.
Imagine if you had invested thousands of dollars in a bricks and mortar venture, you wouldn't leave it standing unattended would you? The good news is that you can make money from Affiliate Marketing, just not piles of it overnight.
