How to Remove Gas Smell From Clothes
- 1). Fill a bucket, sink or washing machine with enough warm water to completely cover the smelly clothing. Let the clothes soak in the warm water for at least two hours.
- 2). Wring out the clothing well when you remove it from the water. Lay the clothing outside in the sun to dry.
- 3). Fill a bucket, sink or washing machine with equal parts white vinegar and warm water. Place the clothing into the vinegar and water solution and let it soak overnight.
- 4). Take the clothes out of the solution the next day and wring them out well. Lay them outside in the sun to dry again.
- 5). Soak the clothing in a solution of warm water and a few squirts of grease-cutting dish soap. Let the clothing soak for about 20 minutes. Remove the clothing from the soapy water and lay it again in the sun to dry.
- 6). Wash your clothing as usual in the washer with the regular amount of laundry detergent. Do not place the clothing in the dryer until you are sure that all of the gasoline odor is gone.
- 7). Repeat this entire process if any odor remains on the clothing. You may need to repeat this process a couple of times to fully remove the gasoline smell from clothing.
