Silencing your iPhone

• 1). Turn your iPhone 3G so that the left side is facing you. On the top left side of your iPhone are two buttons. The silencer switch is the smaller one.
  
  
• 2). Slide the switch toward the back of the iPhone to toggle silent mode. In this setting, the iPhone does not ring, nor does it sound alerts or sound effects. A picture of a bell with a slash through it will briefly flash on your screen.
  
  
• 3). When silent mode is no longer needed, toggle back to ring mode by sliding the switch forward, toward the screen. You will now hear all sounds as usual.
