How to Plan a Party at Home
- 1). Pick a theme that is easy to execute at home. Such themes include Vegas night, a karaoke party and an all-white or all-black party.
- 2). Send invitations to the party at least two weeks in advance. Include clear directions on how to get to your home.
- 3). Develop a menu that your guests can eat without being seated unless you are having a dinner party. This will eliminate the need for each guest to have a seat and surface to eat on, thus saving you space and the need to rent furniture. Ideal foods include grilled chicken or pork skewers, sliders, stuffed mushrooms, stuffed shrimp, cupcakes, finger sandwiches and crudites.
- 4). Thoroughly clean your home, including your bathrooms, the day before the party. Place fresh towels and soaps in the bathroom, as well as at least two extra rolls of toiler paper and air freshener.
- 5). Ensure you have enough music CDs and a reliable stereo system to last the duration of the party. Having music in the background creates a more party-like atmosphere and helps guests relax and enjoy themselves.
- 6). Push your furniture back against the wall to create a more open space for the party. If possible, remove furniture such as coffee tables, plant stands and small chairs from the room.
- 7). Remove as many breakables and electronics from the party space as possible. Doing so will not only will cut down on the chance of anything getting broken, it will also clear more space for the party.
- 8). Prepare all of the food at least 45 minutes before your guests arrive. Having a stove or oven on will heat up your home, and can make guests uncomfortable.
- 9). Light a few scented candles and place them around your home. This will add to the atmosphere and give your house a pleasant smell.
