Well, the day is here. I’m writing this at about 10:30 am, and if everything goes as planned, in less than 8 hours, I’ll have an iPhone.

I’ve gone through a lot of feelings about the iPhone: sheer excitement during the keynote that announced it, skepticism that it can deliver what’s been promised, frustration at the price, amusement at the hype and speculation, exhausted by the focus, and, as we drew closer to today, excitement again.

I’m still not excited about the cost of the device and some of the drawbacks that have been pointed out (especially the relatively slow speed of AT&T’s EDGE network), but overall I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on an iPhone.

This section of the site is going to be my running diary of my experiences with the iPhone over my first 30 days of owning one. I’ll post one article a day on some aspect of using the iPhone, what I’ve liked and disliked, what I’ve learned. I hope you’ll find it interesting.

I’ll post again later today, when I’ve got an iPhone in my hands.

For now, it’s just a matter of planning. Earlier this morning, I drove by the AT&T Store I was planning to buy my iPhone at. It’s out of the way and so I assumed that there would be no line. When I drove by, presto – no line. I was feeling pretty good.

When I got home, though, I checked AT&T’s iPhone store locator to make sure that that store is selling the iPhone. Turns out they’re not. Back to the drawing board a bit, but there are 6 AT&T and Apple Stores within about 10 miles of me, so I should be able to find a store with a short line.

At least I hope so.
