    • General Motors introduced the Chevrolet Trailblazer in 1999 as a more expensive version of the Blazer. This sports utility vehicle is built on the same platform as Chevrolet trucks and is available with four-wheel drive. The rear suspension has a five-link solid axle with 1.4-inch shocks and a 0.83-inch stabilizer bar. The hydraulically assisted rack and pinion steering has an overall ratio of 20.4-to-1 with a curb-to-curb turning circle of 36.4 feet. The 16-inch cast aluminum wheels require P245/70R16 tires. The vehicle features vented disc ABS brakes on all four wheels.

    Size

    • Base curb weight of the two-wheel drive model is 4,432 lbs. and the four-wheel drive version is 4,616 lbs. The Trailblazer is 191.8 inches long and 74.6 inches wide. It has a 113-inch wheelbase and is 71.9 inches high. The fuel tank holds 22 gallons and the engine requires 7 qts. of oil. It has a 13.9-quart coolant capacity.

    Towing and Payload

    • The standard Trailblazer has a payload capacity of 1,069 lbs. for the two-wheel drive version and 1,134 lbs. for the four-wheel drive. The two-wheel drive version is capable of towing 6,300 lbs., which is 100 lbs. more than the four-wheel drive version
