    Frame

    • The C7500 series includes three different frames and 15 different wheelbases. The frames are rated to 50,000, 80,000 and 120,000 pounds per square inch yield strength. The frames come with two types of frame extensions rated at 80,000 and 120,000 psi yield strength. Wheelbases in the series range from 140 inches to 296 inches.

    Type of Cab

    • Chevy C7500s have a range of cabs, including a regular cab with either two seats or a single bench seat. The crew cab is a four-door model and the cutaway cab gives the driver easy access to the hauling space.

    Available engines

    • Trucks in the C7500 series have a variety of engines. A Vortec 8.1L MD Gasoline V8 is rated at 295 horsepower at 3,600 rpm and 440 foot-pounds of torque at 3,200 rpm. This engine was taken out of production in December 2008, however. Other trucks in the series have one of five types of Isuzu 6H (LF8) diesel engines. The Isuzu engines are all inline 6-cylinder blocks with an engine displacement of 7.8 liters. Horsepower ranges from 215 to 300 at 2,200 rpm, while foot-pounds of torque ranges from 560 to 860 at 1,450 rpm.

    Transmissions

    • The Chevy C7500 series offers 16 different Allison transmission options, all with either five- or six-speed shifts. Some options are specific to certain applications -- the Allison 2350 MH Series is designed for motorhomes, for example, while the EVS Series has five transmissions for diesel emergency vehicle applications.

    Fuel tanks

    • The C7500 offers six different fuel tank configurations. Single-tank configurations provide 35 to 50 gallon tanks mounted on either the driver or passenger side of the truck. Three double-tank varieties provide 70, 75 or 100 gallon capacities.

    Brakes

    • The C7500 series offers the option of hydraulic or air brakes. The hydraulic system is a Bosch Hydro Max split-brake system with a four-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS). A tandem master cylinder allows independent front and rear fluid circuits. The air brake is a four-channel Bendix ABS system, which includes dual air pressure gauges and an air-activated spring-loaded parking brake. Three types of air compressors are available to power the air brakes.
