Have no friends in college? Your social skills will dictate how effectively you make and keep friends.
It is possible to create a strategy to systematically make more friends, rise to the top of the social hierarchy, and become more popular.
There is a science of how to make friends in college.
First, you should know that there is ALWAYS time to make new friends.
After reading this article hopefully, you might realize that making new friends is easy.
If you have no friends in college, you may not have realized that social situations amongst human beings are more predictable than you might suspect.
Just like out primate cousins, we live in tribes.
Knowing how to become popular is about knowing how to rise to the top of the tribe.
The first thing you need to know in order to become make friends in college, is to know the rules of the tribe.
Unspoken Rules of Every Social Group: 1.
As a group, we strive to get higher status at all times, and we align ourselves with other people who have higher status at all costs.

Anyone who makes us have/look lower status will be marginalized from the group.
3.
People with lower status in the group will be given less privileges in the group; less access to sex.
4.
We will give higher status to anyone who can contribute value to the social group.
Valuable things include fun, and other good emotions.
5.
We are always looking to share experiences that we will remember positively forever.
The more of these experiences we share, the closer we grow as a group.
These experiences are typically caused by laughter, adventure, suspense and drama! 6.
We all secretly want to grow closer as a group but we are afraid to open up lest we are rejected.
We need a good leader to help us overcome this.
Make friends with people I call social connectors.
This person is someone who is very well connected with other people.
While most people have about 40 casual friends, these people have many more than that.
They are typically very friendly and sociable.
One key premise of becoming more popular, is to make friends with social connectors.
Up until this point, your status has gotten pretty high because you've become well connected and you know other people.
Once you have enough friends, coordinate activities with them.
Host a party, plan the Saturday night events etc.
When you do this, your status will rise above to the very top of the social group.
You will have officially become the leader of the tribe, and voila, you will become very popular.
As a bonus, you can consider taking positions within social scene which give you higher status.
Some of these positions include becoming a DJ, bartender, varsity athlete, president of a cool club, or joining a cool fraternity.
