How to Build Panels to Make a Built-in Grill
- 1). Measure the width and length of your grill with the tape measure. Measure up from the base of the grill to the bottom section. Make a note of the measurements on a piece of paper.
- 2). Transfer the measurements to the 2-by-4 boards. Measure six boards to the measurement for the width, six boards to the measurement for the height and two boards to the measurement for the length. Make a cut mark with the pencil and cut the boards using the circular saw.
- 3). Assemble two boards that are cut to the width and the two boards cut to the length together in the shape of a rectangle. Drill two pilot holes into each end where two boards come together with the power drill. Secure the boards together with screws.
- 4). Assemble two boards cut to the width and two boards cut to the height together in the shape of another rectangle. Drill pilot holes and secure the boards together. Repeat this process with the remaining 2-by-4 boards.
- 5). Measure the width and length of each frame. Transfer the measurements to a 4-by-8-foot sheet of ¼-inch plywood. Make cut marks with the pencil and cut the plywood with the circular saw.
- 6). Place the cut pieces of plywood in place over the frame panel. Secure the plywood to the panels with finish nails using the nail gun.
- 7). Set the panels together to create the enclosure for the grill. Drill two pilot holes into the bottom and top of the framing with the power drill. Secure the framing together with screws.
