    • 1). Scrub your feet daily. Give feet a deep cleanse to remove bacteria. Use a foot brush to scrub the feet and in between the toes with antibacterial soap. Towel dry thoroughly as dampness breeds bacteria.

    • 2). Trim and clean toenails regularly. Keep toenails trimmed to prevent bacteria from building up under them. Use a nailbrush to clean under toenails daily.

    • 3). Air dry your shoes after every wear. Put shoes outside in the sun to dry if possible. Don't wear the same shoes daily, especially if they're damp inside.

    • 4). Wash removable insoles regularly. Some types of shoes, especially athletic shoes, have removable insoles that can be washed to remove bacteria and odor.

    • 5). Spray shoes with disinfectant foot spray to kill bacteria. Foot sprays are available at drug stores and supermarkets. Spray the inside of the shoes and let them dry.

    • 6). Choose cotton socks that wick moisture and allow your feet to breathe. Some socks, especially those made of nylon, trap in moisture, encouraging bacteria to grow. Change your socks daily; never wear dirty socks, always launder them after every use.

    • 7). Go barefoot whenever possible at home. The best way to prevent the buildup of bacteria on the feet is to expose them to air.
