Easter Decorating With Balloons
- 1). Pull open the neck/spout of a deflated regular rubber balloon (not the twisty kind) and slip in Easter prizes. Due to their thick rubber casing, balloons can house small treats such as mini chocolate bars or little toys.
- 2). Blow up the balloons, tie them off and then pile them around the room or create a balloon drop with a fishing net and a large display of pastel colored balloons.
- 3). Paint a deflated balloon with acrylic or fabric paint to create egg stripes, polka dots and glitter; blow it up and tie off. Painting a deflated balloon avoids the risk of popping --- the loud noise may scare small painters --- but can suffer from the paint cracking when the balloon is filled with air.
- 4). Blow up, tie off and paint inflated balloons for more of a realistic egg look. Apply paint with a very light touch/stroke to avoid popping and add multiple coats where required.
- 5). Create Easter bunnies with twisting balloons and then draw on facial features (see Resources). Prior to the party, make bunny balloon animals to place at each guest's seat or have them scattered around the display tables. Another option is to create the balloon animals during the party, adding decorations on the fly and capturing attendees' interest at the same time.
