How to Make Pop Up Bird Houses
- 1). Fold one piece of cardstock in half, making a rectangular shape. Press firmly along the crease of the paper to make a neat and clean fold.
- 2). Use the pencil and ruler to draw a five-sided shape on the unfolded sheet of cardstock. The bottom line will measure 2 inches, the two extending sides will measure 4 inches each and the two top lines will measure 2 inches each. Draw a circle in the center for the opening to the birdhouse.
- 3). Using the scissors, carefully cut out the birdhouse along the drawn lines.
- 4). Draw a 4-inch-by-1-inch rectangle on the sheet of paper from which you cut out the birdhouse.
- 5). Carefully cut out the rectangle along the lines.
- 6). Unfold the folded piece of cardstock and measure 3 inches in and 1/2 inch from the bottom on the left side. Mark this point with your pencil.
- 7). Start at the right side of the paper and measure 1 inch in and 1/2 inch from the bottom. Mark this point with your pencil.
- 8). Apply glue to both ends of the rectangular piece of paper cut in Step 5.
- 9). Position either end at the marked points on the folded piece of paper. If done correctly, the rectangle will fit neatly within the lines. Press the ends onto the paper and let the glue dry.
- 10
Once the glue is dry, fold the sheet of paper with the rectangular strip glued inside. This will crease the strip in the center. Press firmly to ensure a sharp crease. - 11
Apply glue to the left side of the rectangular strip, stopping at the crease in the center. - 12
Firmly press the 2-inch-wide bottom of the birdhouse onto the prepared rectangular strip. Allow the glue to dry. - 13
The card will now house a popup birdhouse when opened.
