Moving into a new home is exciting, but it can also be exhausting. Decorating a clean palette is a way to start fresh. Before you start decorating, consider the decor style that you hope to end up with and how you will place your furniture. If you have concerns about how your furniture will end up in the space, measure it first. - Decorate your new home with vintage art prints for a unique theme that you can continue from room to room. If you are looking for something that is budget-friendly, you can frame advertisements from vintage magazines. Make a copy of several advertisements and frame them all in the same color frames, such as brown or black.
- To create a focal point on your fireplace, bring the outside in. Decorate the mantel with long, tapered, white flowers. Add branches to tall vases and place them on the mantel. If fresh flowers are not in season, place potted plants on the hearth or mantel.
- Decorate your new home with colors that are reminiscent of candy. Use colors such as lemon yellow, sky blue and spring green. Paint the walls yellow, and paint bookcases spring green or tangerine. Add soft pink and sky blue throw pillows in solid colors, as well as checks and florals. A sky blue and yellow striped slipcover thrown on your couch complements this look.
- Use photographs to make your own artwork for your new living room. Take some photographs of flowers or birds using a digital camera. Have the photographs enlarged and printed on canvas. Frame the the prints in wood or white frames and hang them on your walls.
