How to Set Up a Website for a Charity
- 1). Sign up for a free blog by visiting a site like WordPress.com. Click "Sign Up" and enter the required fields. Click "Next."
- 2). Activate your account and login using the user name and password you entered during the setup process. Click "My Dashboard" at the top. Click "Themes" under the "Appearance" section in the main navigation.
- 3). Browse or search for a theme that would be appropriate for your charity website. Under the theme you like, click "Activate."
- 4). Click your blog's title at the top to preview the new theme. Click "My Dashboard" in the top menu to go back. Change the theme by repeating Steps 2 and 3 if you are not satisfied.
- 5). Click "Add New" under the "Pages" section. Pages act as static content for sections like "About Our Charity," "Contact Us" or "Donate." Add a title and content, and then click "Publish." This page shows up in the main navigation on your website.
- 6). Click "Add New" under the "Posts" section. Posts can be news or updates about your organization. Enter a title and text. Click "Publish."
- 7). Click "Domains" under "Settings." Enter the domain name you purchased, click "Add domain to blog" and follow the onscreen instructions to activate your domain.
- 8). Spread the word about your new charity website to attract potential supporters.
