How to Configure Home Network With Static IP Address
- 1). Click on the "Start" button on the lower left corner of your screen. Click on "Control Panel". Click on "Networking and sharing center" and click on the "Change adapter settings" on the upper left corner of the new window.
- 2). On a regular computer you will have two options: "Wireless Network Connection" and Local Area Connection". Choose "Local" if your computer uses a network cable or "Wireless" if it uses a wireless connection.
- 3). Right click on the connection you want to use and select "Properties". In the new window select " Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click on the "Properties" button.
- 4). In the new window, select "Use the following IP address" and enter the IP address you want. Enter a "Subnet Mask" of 255.255.255.0 and the IP address of the computer or router you are using to access the internet.
- 5). Select "Use the following DNS server addresses" only if you are connecting to the internet. If you are connecting to the internet enter the DNS servers of your internet provider. Click "ok" and close all the windows open during that procedure.
- 1). Click on the "Apple" menu on the top left corner of your computer. Select "System Preferences" and then click "Network".
- 2). Select whether you want to use the AirPort or the cable network. From the "Service List".
- 3). Select "Manually" from the "Configure" menu, and enter the IP address and the DNS information you want to use for that computer.
