2015 Water Wasting Finger Pointing Out of Control in California

It is amazing all the finger pointing going on out in California during the 2011-2015 drought -- we have citizens claiming it is agriculture's fault stating that it takes one-gallon of water to grow a single almond nut, almond growers complaining about scapegoating and focusing our attention on tomatoes and strawberries and farmer's and agriculture associations pointing to hydro-power and natural gas fracking, and oil refining to make gasoline -- rather than coming together to decrease our water usage by the required 35% so we don't run out of this precious commodity.
Some of these statements I've read, as a water consultant at our Think Tank, seem utterly ridiculous.
One stated that the average person's water footprint for hydropower per day was 2500 gallons.
Yah, maybe -- but unlikely -- still even if it were true that water proceeds down the river and is used for agriculture and drinking water as well, at least it is with the water running through hydro plants along the Colorado River which is where a huge percentage of Southern California's water supply comes from.
Maybe it's time we just shut off all the water to EVERYONE for a few days, without notice to show people how serious their lives will be without it.
Then I bet everyone catches a clue, and stops wasting water.
Inhumane you say, yes, maybe, but that would certainly get everyone's attention immediately, and maybe we could cut the water use by 50% and that could be 70% of the wasted water too.
How do I know such a strategy will work, minus the challenges with re-pressurizing the water lines and chances of water main breaks because of it you ask? Simple, you see for 7-years I traveled the US in a motorhome, went to ever city in the nation, and the two of us used 150-gallons every three days total, sometimes having to make the water last up to 5-days.
We did it, and they do it in other countries, it's not that hard, but people now feel entitled to unlimited amounts of water, shame on them, and shame on us for letting the crybabies rule the day.
If California wants to save water and survive the drought, we have to work together if not we will all be thirsty together, and I ask that you think about that, rather than participate in blame games, because no one lives in a glass house with no water, at least not the last time I checked.
