How to Seal Concrete and Brick Pavers
- 1). Clean off your pavers with a power washer set on a low setting, or a garden hose on a high setting. You don't want the stream from the water to dislodge the pavers, or the sand in their joints.
- 2). Pour some regular household detergent into a bucket filled with water. Add enough detergent so the water is good and sudsy.
- 3). Pour the solution on the pavers. Allow the pavers to soak for 15 minutes. Scrub the pavers with a scrub brush. Rinse off the pavers with a clear water.
- 4). Apply a brick or concrete stain remover to any stains that are still on the pavers. Gas and oil are examples of stains that can be tough to remove. Brick and concrete stain removers can easily be found at hardwood stores. Allow the pavers to dry.
- 5). Place sand on the bricks and sweep it into the joints of any pavers that need it. The sand should reach halfway up the side of each paver. Sweep off any leftover debris or sand with a broom.
- 6). Apply an acrylic-based sealer over your pavers with a paint roller. Apply the sealer in long strokes. Spread out the sealant evenly.
- 7). Allow the pavers to dry for a few hours. Add at least one more coat of sealant.
- 8). Add a third coat of sealant if your pavers receive heavy traffic, or the weather in your area is severe.
