Those of us who exercise know that it is important to mix cardio, flexibility, and strength training exercises.
It is also very important to exercise within your personal abilities.
Not doing so can result in serious injury.
So even though strength training is important, there are many reasons why muscle building programs are not suitable for everyone.
If you are sedentary or have not been exercising much lately, you do not need to start with a stringent muscle building program.
Start out with light cardio and flexibility exercises.
Then as you get stronger, add weight lifting.
Ask your doctor or personal trainer before beginning a serious muscle building program.
Pregnant women are not in a position to being a muscle building program, either.
Walking is the best exercise for pregnant women.
However, if you were very active before you got pregnant, you may continue if your doctor or midwife says it is safe to do so.
Elderly people and people with certain health problems may not be good candidates for muscle building programs.
The risk of injury is just too high and outweighs the benefits.
Again, you should talk to your doctor or personal trainer about what exercises are right for you.
Keep in mind that muscle building programs are not suitable for everyone.
If you are unable to take part in a muscle building program, do not get discouraged.
There are still plenty of ways for you to stay healthy.
The more you do cardio and flexibility exercises, the more your body will get used to the activity.
Then you may be able to complete a muscle building program.
