How to Customize a Letter Pendant

    • 1). Find or buy a pretty bead or two that you would want to hang from your letter pendant. Decide whether you want to add a pretty drop bead to the pendant itself or the chain right next to it. A drop bead is a bead that hangs from a necklace with the use of a head pin.

    • 2). Slip one or two of the beads you've chosen onto the head pin. Take your round-nose pliers and grip them right above the top bead. Take the end of the head pin between your fingers and bend it to form a right angle. Move the pliers up about a millimeter or so and bend the end of the head pin back over the top of the pliers to create the beginning of the loop. Do not close the loop.

    • 3). Stick the end of the head pin through the chain right next to the pendant, or through an opening of the pendant itself. For example, if your pendant is the letter "O" you might be able to just create your loop so that the bead hangs from the letter. Once you have the loop where you want it, finish the loop by gripping the head pin with your pliers and bending it over with your fingers. Pinch the two sides together with the pliers and cut off the extra length of the head pin with a pair of wire cutters.

    • 4). Add a tiny cabochon, or flat-sided bead, to the letter pendant with some super glue. Dab a very thin layer of quick-bonding glue to the flat side of the bead and apply it to a level surface on the letter. Let it dry for a few hours before you wear it.
