Pool Shock Instructions
- 1). Remove any leaves or other debris from your pool and skimmer baskets using a pool vacuum or similar item.
- 2). Check the pH level of your pool and adjust accordingly. Pool shock should be used when water has a pH level between 7.2 and 7.4 for optimal results. To raise pH levels, sodium carbonate should be added. To lower pH levels, you'll need to add muriatic acid.
- 3). Ensure your pool filter or pump system is on, and follow the manufacturer's directions to add the proper amount of shock treatment directly to your pool water.
- 4). Wait at least 30 minutes before entering the water. Check the chlorine level prior to entering the water using a test kit or chlorine test strips by following the manufacturer's instructions. For safe swimming, the chlorine level should be four ppm (parts per million) or less.
