Florida Boiler Laws
- For boilers to operate legally in the state, they must be certified periodically. When a boiler passes inspection, a certificate of compliance is issued to the owner. These certificates are valid for one year for high pressure boilers, and two years for low pressure ones.
- Each boiler used at a location of public assembly (not including private residences) must be legally licensed with the state. For this purpose, each boiler is affixed with a metal tag identifying its registration number. Tampering with these tags or numbers is a criminal offense.
- According to the Boiler Safety Act, certain criteria must be met to become a certified boiler inspector in Florida. Examinations for the position are given four times a year, and need to be applied for in advance. Boiler inspectors can be either state employees, or those authorized by insurance companies and other organizations to perform tasks associated with the position.
