ANSI Requirements for Electrical Safety
- ANSI compiles standards from other organizations with specialties in certain fields. In regard to electrical safety, two main organizations are important. These are the Semiconductor Equipment Materials International (SEMI) and the National Electric Manufacturer's Association (NEMA).
- SEMI S22-0706 is a set of requirements for the production of electrical equipment used in the semiconductor industry. It addresses basic product safety concerns such as construction, design and testing principles, and references several other SEMI standards.
- Collaboration between ANSI, NEMA and the National Safety Council produced the ANSI Z535. The Z535 is a series of standards for electrical safety in the workplace that sets requirements for safety signs and colors. Designed to prevent accidents and injuries, it is composed of six documents and a color chart that explains the properties that alert people to hazards in the workplace and home.
