How to Solve a Super Sudoku
- 1). Start with the first empty square. Make a list of all the possible numbers and letters that could be in the box (1 through 9 and A through F).
- 2). Read along the row your square is in, crossing out any number or letter you find from your list, since that could not be in your box.
- 3). Read down the column your square is in, crossing out any number or letter you find from your list.
- 4). Read through the squares in the box your square is part of, crossing out any number or letter you find from your list.
- 5). Record in the box whatever possibilities are left. If only one number or letter is possible, make the number or letter large and dark in the box. If there are multiple possibilities, record them in small, light numbers or letters along the bottom or sides of the box.
- 6). Repeat this process for every empty square.
- 7). Go back over each area each time you get to the end of a row, column or box. Keeping in mind that every number and letter must appear exactly once in that area, see if you can tell from the data you have what some of the squares should be (for example, if only one square has 5 as a possibility in the row you just finished, that square must be 5, since the row has to have a 5 in it).
