- The first Guitar Hero featured 47 songs and received a 9.2 composite critic score according to Gamespot. Guitar Hero II featured 64 songs and also garnished a 9.2 composite score. The next game, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks The 80s could only muster a meager 7.0 composite. Guitar Hero III, made by a new company---Neversoft---scored 8.5 composite.
- Guitar Hero was the first game to use the licensed guitar now associated with the franchise. Guitar Hero: World Tour later brought in multiple instruments, including drums, bass and a microphone.
- Guitar Hero lets the user organize songs by decade, from the 50s to present day.
- Detroit Lions pitcher Joel Zumaya was unable to pitch in three games of the 2006 ALCS due to inflammation of his forearm and wrist from Guitar Hero.
- Music sales have been affected greatly by the games. Songs featured on Guitar Hero III have experienced increases in download sales ranging from 15 to 843 percent.
