How to Caulk to Seal a Drywall Foundation
- 1). Cut off the end of a tube of caulk with a pair of scissors. Make the cut at a 45-degree angle. This keeps your caulk application smooth.
- 2). Insert the caulk tube into a caulk gun.
- 3). Poke a nail or screw into the end of the caulk tube to break the seal inside. Press the caulk gun trigger a few times to get the caulk flowing then wipe the end with a wet paper towel or rag.
- 4). Run the end of the caulk tube along the bottom of the drywall board and the top of the floor or the home foundation to fill the gap between.
- 5). Wet your finger and run it along the caulk to force it between the floor or foundation and the base of the drywall. Allow the caulk to dry, according to the instructions on the packaging, before painting the drywall.
