Southampton is famed for its association with RMS Titanic which departed from Southampton for its maiden voyage on the fateful day of 10th April 1912.  The city is also associated with the building of the Spitfire aircraft and of course as one of the departure points for D-Day.  It is now home port to some of the largest cruise ships in the world.
